Nadia Addessi nailed it here!
Sometimes it's hard for us to make sense of our experience until we read a list of symptoms or characteristics, and think, "Holy moly. That's how it is for me too."
One of the challenges of being a parentified child is that we might have a very well-adjusted and helpful presentation of self (because that's how we survived), and we were conditioned to not ask for help for ourselves (because that was dangerous), so we can feel very lonely, even while being connected to lots of people. We are valued by them for precisely the attributes that keep us lonely!
If you see yourself in this description, know that you are not alone! I am going to focus on this in our next Blissipline gathering and we will explore ways to feel safer and freer while connecting to the people we love in authentic ways.
Feel free to join us next Tuesday, July 22nd at 3pm Eastern (New York time).
We will meet live on Zoom and it will be recorded. I will share the recording with everyone who registers.
We will post a sign up page in the next day or two, but feel free to comment below, and I'll share the link with you when it's available.
